History

Origin

Element Lad aka Jan Arrah was born and raised on the planet Trom. Due to high levels of radiation on the planet, populations clustered within a small valley were born with the power to transmutate an element to another. After amassing a large amount of wealth, the Trommites abandoned the pursuit of wealth and pursued spirituality and philantropy. When they refused Roxxas the Butcher's request, he slaughtered the entire race. Or so he thought. Arrah was the lone survivor and was given sanctuary by the Legion of Superheroes.

As the sixth member, Arrah took the name Mystery Lad until Roxxas was captured. Only Saturn Girl was privy to Mystery Lad's true identity. Afterwards, he took on the codename Element Lad. Over the years, the naturally shy Element Lad became one of the most powerful members and a leader through above average discipline.

Timber Wolf

He witnessed Timber Wolf's initiation into the Legion via video screen.

The Substitutes

He worked with the Legion battling creatures who had began attacking the ionosphere.

Chain of Command

He took part in the Legion leadership vote which eventually went to Bouncing Boy.

Sundown

He was among the Legionaries when the battled the Controller, who had released the deadly weapon the Sun-Eater.

The Man from the Edge of Tomorrow

He and the Legion go to take down the escape prisoner on Takron-Galtos. But are themselves locked up in the cells, until released by the rest of the Legion.

Cry Wolf

He was among the Legionaries when they tried to bring the rogue Timber Wolf in for the murder of his own father. But Timber Wolf eventually proves his own innocence.

The Karate Kid

He witnessed Karate Kid's initiation into the Legion via video screen.

In the Beginning

He was among the Legionaries as they celebrated the anniversary of the formation of the Legion of Superheroes.

Dark Victory

He was among the Legionaries who fought in the final stand against Brainiac 1.0.

Powers

Elemental Transmutation: Jan has got the native power of Trom, the ability to change the structure and elements of objects by touching them. Element Lad can change one chemical element into any other, for instance, lead to gold or iron to aluminium. He can transmute an element even if it is part of a compound. He can change solid objects into gaseous ones.

Equipment

Legion Flight Ring: Like all Legionaries Element Lad wears a flight ring. It allows him self propelled flight and protection in the vacuum of space.
