When Superman was away from his Fortress of Solitude, he left robot duplicates of himself in charge of maintaining day to day chores such as feeding the aliens kept in his zoo. One such robot was still around in the 31st century with a half Superman, half robot appearance. It appeared to the Legion of Superheroes and gave them a power suit for Superman to wear in the red sun environment of Kandor.
